In expression of promise, there are, as usual, two kinds of response, the positive and negative ones. Here are the examples:

R: Sweetie, I promise I'll never leave you. I'll always take care of you till the end of time.
P (positive response): Really?!? Oh, how sweet of you! I'm so lucky to have you. I'll do the same to you.

N (negative response): Really! Those words again. Yeah, you keep telling yourself that as if they believe in you. Do you hear yourself? It's the same words over and over again without any proof.
