Good Morning,

The honorable, Mr Zainudin Buchori, M. Pd, as the principal of SMAN 1 Kota Maju
The honorable, Madam Khoiriah, M. Pd, as the vice principal SMAN1 Kota Maju
The honorable teachers and staffs of SMAN 1 Kota Maju
And my friends that I loved

First of all, let us convey our gratitude to Allah SWT because of his grace and blessing, we can gather in this room without any obstacle at all. Furthermore, let us convey pray and greetings to our great prophet, Muhammad SAW, I hope we will be met with him by god in his heaven, amen.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
On this nice occasion, I will deliver a short speech about the importance of nationalism spirit in us; hopefully this speech could be useful for all of us all, amen.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The spirit of nationalism is morale or self-sacrifice for the sake of our beloved homeland, the spirit that was raging within our heroes to fight for Indonesia’s independence from the hands of the invaders. By this spirit, they were willing to fight by sacrificing their body, soul, and treasure for one purpose that was the independence of Indonesia.

If we flash back to our history of the past, our predecessors fought furiously to realize this dream. There were a lot fights at that time. For example, Bandung Lautan Api event, battle on 11th march in Surabaya, the rebellion in Blitar, and many more. They were not afraid at all to fight the invaders, even though they knew that they would die. But the fear was enclosed by a high spirit of nationalism in them. They want the invaders to get out of this homeland, even though thousands of people dead, but it was worth, because the dream came true. Let us imagine if at that time there was no spirit of nationalism in them, certainly now we are still in the grip of the invaders.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Now we are back at the current time, do we have the spirit of nationalism inside our heart? Are we willing to sacrifice to defend this nation? Although we have enjoyed this independence, we still must have the spirit of nationalism, just like possessed inside our heroes before. However, that’s not by taking up guns for war. There are a lot of things that we can do to show our nationalism spirit such as buying products made in Indonesia, supporting our athletes who are struggling, keeping the good name of the nation, and much more.

If the whole societies have the spirit of nationalism in their soul, then our nation will grow to become a great nation and aligned with other nations. In addition, we will go forward and not be left behind by other nations.

Therefore, we must have the spirit of nationalism in us, so that this nation remains intact.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I think it is enough. Hopefully what I have said can be useful for us and this nation. At the end of this speech I quoted the words of a famous philosopher who said, do not ask what the country given to you, but ask what you’ve given to your country. Thank you for your attention.
